January 5, 2022

Hello,

Jim & I were approached by our brunch provider with significant concerns regarding their ability to put on the brunch with the current Covid infection situation.

They requested some direction from the Board as to whether or not to proceed.

Over the past 2 days, attendance at the Club is down significantly and there appears to be general concern amongst our membership about the Omnicron variant and Covid in general.

FYI in that there are currently 222 active Covid cases in Beaumont.

Based on this, the Board has decided to cancel the Jan 9, 2022 General Meeting and Brunch.

By doing so now, we avoid the brunch provider having to purchase food which would not be used if we cancelled after today.

This is regrettable but the right decision.

Regards,

Bill.

The City of Beaumont is following the AHS Covid guidelines which have changed as of today, March 1-22. The changes include no longer wearing masks in public buildings which would include Beaumont’s facilities. So to be clear for example, masks are no longer required to be worn by city staff or members of the public in the recreation centre, the library, city hall or the Ken Nichol facility.

Your Board of Directors met yesterday and voted to also follow the new AHS guidelines which means masks are no longer required to be worn while in our Club.

Having said this, masks can be worn on a voluntary basis and that would be the personal choice of Club members and/or visitors and will be respected.

Regards,

Bill.

May 28, 2021 - Message from our Interim President

To all members

As you may be aware, Phil Lee had recently stepped down as our Club President for personal reasons and at the Board meeting held on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, I was elected as Interim Club President

I want to take this opportunity to thank Phil for his service as Club President. Phil dedicated himself tirelessly in his role as President and spent countless hours working for the betterment of the Club. Phil will remain as Past President on the Board. Thank you Phil.

The Covid pandemic has created a tremendous amount of disruption in our society and in our personal lives. As you know, as per AHS guidelines, our Club has been shut down for a very long time and this has had a negative effect on our members. The Board had voted to suspend membership fees but I think we would all rather be back together in the club socializing and paying our membership fees.

Communication within any organization is often challenging but vitally important and I believe that the pandemic has really brought to light just how important communication is.

As I stated earlier, I am serving as the Interim President until we can organize an annual General meeting for the early fall where we can have elections for a new Board of Directors. I would encourage any of you who have an interest in serving on the Board to come forward at the appropriate time.

Our Board will be meeting again in late June2021 to continue the planning process for the AGM.  In addition, we will be keeping an eye on the ever changing AHS guidelines with respect to a Club re-opening.

We will do our best to keep you informed over the next few months.

Regards,

Bill Daneluik

COVID 19 Guidelines for our CLUB as of September 22, 2021

Hello,

As you are aware, last week the Provincial Government brought in new Covid guidelines that will change the way we operate the Club.

We had a special Board meeting yesterday where we met outside to discuss the changes and based on the new rules, the only way to stay open to allow our members to continue to use the Club was to adopt the rules pertaining to the Provincial Restrictions Exemption program.

The Board passed this motion:

As mandated by Public Health Order # 43-2021, Bill moved that effective Wednesday, September 22, 2021 the Beaumont 50+ Club adopt the Provincial Restrictions Exemption Program which requires that each person entering the Club must show proof of vaccinations. In addition, the Club will require masks to be worn at all times within the Club unless you are seated and consuming food and/or drink or involved in physical activities. Furthermore, any individual cannot enter the Club if they have any symptoms of Covid.

The motion was passed by all voting Board members in attendance.

Now, what does this mean?

When entering the Club, you will be required to show the person looking after the event proof of your vaccinations. The person looking after the proof of vaccinations will be the person doing coffee that morning or the person in charge of the bridge club or pickle ball or bingo and so on.

You will also be required to wear your mask at all times.

The best way to explain it is to use examples:

  1. You come into the Club wearing your mask and get a coffee and/or a treat. You sit down and you can take off your mask to drink your coffee and eat. Once you are done, you put your mask back on for the duration of your visit. If you are still having coffee without your mask but must use the washroom, you put your mask on, go to the washroom, return to your seat and take your mask off to resume your coffee.

  2.

  3. You enter the Club wearing your mask and you sit down to chat with people without getting a coffee or treat, you leave your mask on while you chat.

  4.

  5. You enter the club wearing your mask and sit down to play crib, you keep your mask on unless you are having coffee or a treat while you are playing crib. If you are playing crib but not drinking or eating, you keep your mask on.

  6. So it is possible that in a group of 4 playing crib, one person is eating or drinking without a mask on while their 3 playing partners are wearing their mask.

         4. You enter the Club wearing your mask and go the pickle ball area. While playing pickle ball, you do

not wear your mask but when you are done playing, you put your mask back on.

I hope these examples help but to put it plainly, unless you are playing pickle ball or are seated and having coffee or treats, you must wear your mask in the Club.

Jim and his maintenance crew are doing an excellent job of sanitizing the tables and chairs on a regular basis for your safety.

By following these rules, we will keep our members safe.

Thank you.

Regards,

Bill.
