December 2023 Newletter

Newsletter December, 2023 The Club has a Library! You’ve probably been wondering about all the activity in and around what we used to call the Display Case near the doors of the club. We will fondly remember the model of the first St. Vital church that was in that space for many years, but its new home is equally special. Once Vic, Barry, Terry and others got involved, the renovation moved quickly, and although the Library is still a work in progress, members will come to appreciate the space. Already the Remembrance Day wreath, and now a Christmas arrangement add to the club’s ambiance. Check out the Photo Albums and History books. With a new set of track lighting, it really pops. The only secret is the light switch. Can you guess where it is? Weekly Club Activities NOTE: Some activities stopped over the Holidays, and other activities have special events. Be sure to check. Advice for Christmas Giving

Two old ladies, Dolly and Ruby, were talking about their grandchildren.

Dolly said, "Each year I send each of my grandchildren a card with a generous cheque inside. I never hear from them... never receive a thank you message.”

Ruby replies, "I too send my grandchildren a very generous cheque. I always hear from them within a week after they receive it. In fact, they each pay me a personal visit."

"Wow… how come?” remarked Dolly.

“I don’t sign the cheque!”

Season’s Greetings Well, here we are with another year gone by, and to say it flew by is an understatement. In our last fiscal year which ended on August 31, 2023, we increased our assets by 16% which places us in a very good financial position. In 2023, we have also had a number of very good social events including our 25th Anniversary celebration and Ocktoberfest, just to name a few. At this Holiday Season time, we often reflect and give thanks for what we have. I would like to take a moment here to sincerely thank everyone who does what they can to keep our Club going because without you, our Club would not exist. Our Club is vibrant and full of activity, but these activities are only accomplished by the dedication of our volunteers, Committees, and the Board of Directors. Lastly, thank you for providing me with the opportunity to serve as your President for the last 2 years and I hope that my contribution in that role has been a positive one. It has been my honour to serve. Have a great and safe Holiday Season. Regards, Bill President Beaumont 50+ Club
